This does everything just-so.It is very easy to set up and use, and I also play my portable XM unit through it.However the sound quality is barely average at this price point.Don't expect any noticeable bass, and forget about using it at any volumes above average.Overall it does okay in a small to medium room.

I bought this for my Blackberry Curve 8350i, but it makes a horrible squealing sound when I plug it in.
I had to buy another adapter, since the speaker had none that would successfully connect to my mobile.
I tried it on an old Sony Ericsson P910, and it works fine. Just NOT COMPATIBLE WITH BLACKBERRY 8350i.

Speakal iPanda 2.1 Stereo iPod Docking Station with 5 Speakers Review

Very rarely does something I order on the internet, especially electronics, exceed my expectations. I am normally pretty critical, haven't given many five star ratings on Amazon, but this panda earned it! It was not a gift for a child, I bought it for myself and am an adult and it is cute without being too cutesy. People comment on it all the time. It works very well, speaker quality is good, simple, clean design. I hope it keeps working so well! I love the way the volume is built into the ears. I would definitely buy this product again and would buy it for a gift. It would make a great gift for a "tween" aged kid who is hard to shop for.

Bose 161 Speaker System (Black) - ideal for stereo or home theater use Review

Admittedly I'm a music lover, not a technophile.I'm more interested in Charlie Watts than I am in watts per channel.But my ear is well tuned and I know what sounds good.It would seem that there is some Bose backlash out there; perhaps in response to the Rolls Royce reputation it's carried through the years.I don't know, and frankly I don't care.

I will tell you that I bought my pair not as part of a surround system but as bookshelf speakers for my small home office and I couldn't be happier.They're attractive, have a low profile, and provide total range at all volumes.I tested them in the store with CDs that had lots of challenging highs, sizzling cymbals, that sort of thing.The definition was clear as can be.When you crank them up the sound holds together beautifully, no mud, no distortion.I find that solo piano is another good way to test speaker clarity, I went with The Koln Concert by Keith Jarrett and the results were mesmerizing.

As far as bass response is concerned, good grief, what's the fuss?Even at low volumes I can hear Mingus plucking the strings, when I listen carefully I can even hear him dropping ironic hints.As to the higher register, that's where the clarity of these speakers really shines, Stephanie Mills soars and swoops like an angel.

Then of course there are those irresponsible moments when I simply must blow off a little steam.Out comes the Coltrane, Ayler, Dolphy, Hendrix, Winter, Tower Of Power and up goes the volume.The desk toys start dancing because everything in the room is vibrating.Even then, these unassuming monsters deliver like tomorrow might never come.I've held minority opinions in the past and I'll hold another here, as far as I'm concerned these speakers are fantastic and actually under-priced.

Ultra Portable Speaker USB for Notebook/netbook Retail Box Review

Just bought this through Amazon and so far LOVE it. Small, light, and amazingly good sound for an inexpensive single speaker. Not tinny, nice blend of bass and treble. Listening to classical music on it and it's great. Not concert quality but then it's one, small, USB-no other wire speaker. Very impressed. Lightweight and nice carrying case are also pluses.

Love my 2 pound Lenovo X-60 tablet but the speakers are underneath! making listening to anything sub-optimal. For a long time have looked for a single good speaker for voice and music, with minimal wiring and this really fills the bill.

I did notice that to switch USB ports for the speaker, i have to first end whatever program i'm listening to, then switch to the new port and re-open the program afterwards for the speaker to work.

That said, I would highly recommend this speaker. Thanks to the reviews of others and amazon for posting them.

Bose VCS-10 Center Channel - Speaker, home theater sound for component systems - Black Review

I almost didn't order this based on the poor reviews and Consumers Reports findings.I needed a thin center speaker to go with the acoustimass cubes - this was the logical choice.After researching it at length there were mixed reviews with many negative comments.I called Cruthfield and the Bose Outlet to get their opinions.They were surprised to hear that there were negative comments.The Bose outlet advised theirs sounded great and noted it must be hooked directly to the receiver - not the module like the cubes.I have had the speaker for a couple weeks and it sounds great.I have two other surround systems, one high end and a lower end system and the Bose performs admirably for such a compact system.The articulation of words coming from the center speaker sounds like a real person. I don't understand the bad reviews - unless it's not being connected properly. Worked for me - and as most retailers note you can always send it back.

JBL On Stage 200ID High-Performance Speaker Dock for iPhone 1G and iPod (Black) Review

If you don't want to read my full review and just need to find a small speaker with great bass and a remote control that works with your iPhone and all iPods under $300 then this what you need to buy. Nothing comes close in that price range or size.And it's only $150, so it's easily the best value too; JBL could have charged well over $200 for this and it would still be the only one to buy. I was so impressed I decided to take 30 minutes and write a review.

I wanted something small with big sound (eg, good bass, which almost always sucks on small speakers). I wanted to be able to throw it in my suitcase if I travel. Usually Bose owns this space with their amazing engineering (I own a couple Bose products).I figured to get that kind of sound I was going to have to cough up $350-$500 for Bose's portable solution.Bose have two versions - one that uses AC power, and another with a built in rechargeable battery and it's $100 more.Nice units, and priced right.But when I was at Fry's, I stumbled onto this JBL. For $200-$300 less, this unit sounds almost as good, and is much smaller.Same footprint, but about 1/3 as tall.Nothing in the other 30+ units I tested came close to the sound to this unit in its size and NOTHING touches it under $300 for the sound it products.It also works with my iPhone which was a requirement.What this really means is you don't have to put it in "Airplane Mode" which turns off the phone to keep the interference from wrecking your listening enjoyment - which means you can still get calls when it's docked - it mutes the music and plays the ringtone though the speaker.Kind of funny, though, when the phone is in silent mode, it mutes the music and plays no ring tone- I would expect it to just show on the screen but not interrupt the music until you answer the call. This is the iPhone's fault I think, not this unit.

Another thing I like about this device is it seems to auto-equalize the volume of the music to each song so you aren't continually re-adjusting the volume.I don't know if the Bose units do this.Since every album is engineered at different levels, the annoying problem of some songs being loud and others quiet causing a constant readjustment seems to be solved.Very cool.I am guessing that JBL built a signal processing chip into this that does this, and also gets the bass/treble balance perfect and adjusts itself.It also seems to expand the stereo field to make the sound stage much bigger than this unit is, but not so much that it sounds weird.None of the other JBL units seemed to do this, so my hat is off to the signal processing in this unit.

The ten button remote control works great, but it's hard to read the buttons in low light, so I guess I'll have to memorize their position.You don't need the remote control to turn down the volume - the only two buttons on the front/top are volume up/down, so you can always get it quiet in a hurry if you can't find the remote.

Downsides: It has an Aux input - which I was looking forward to using it at my desk where my computer is to double as a computer speaker.When the Aux cable is plugged into my computer, it cuts the volume from the iPod in half, and limits the max volume of the unit quite a bit.Once the cable is unplugged (or the computer is turned off) the volume jumps up. This is a line balancing flaw that was apparently overlooked.Also, it is a bummer this does not have a USB port to connect to your PC.This would allow me to sync when docked, but I have to disconnect from this unit and plug into a separate USB cable to Sync. I would have paid more for this feature, at least another $25.

Oddly, the other JBL units I tested (the ones with a clock and other features) completely sucked in comparison to the sound of this unit.They got the sound right on this one and only this one.Bose gets it right every time, but JBL doesn't have the reputation for making small devices like this, so JBL had to price it this way to compete - take advantage of it.

JBL: if you read this, I'd like to see a version just like with these improvements:

1) Add a backlit LCD clock.Nothing fancy.No alarm necessary - the iPhone/iTouch has that. If it had a clock then I could throw away my bedside clock and use this. Your other unit with the clock/alarm sucks compared to this unit in sound, so just add a basic clock to this one.

2) Add a USB interface so I do not have to undock to sync with my PC.

3) Fix the level issue with the Aux input or remote it.As is, the Aux input is useless unless I didn't need the dock port, which is the only reason you would really buy this.

4) Add a battery option.You could sell the battery as a snap-on thing or separate thing so I can take this outside on the deck without a cord. I'd pay $50-$60 for this, when and if I need the feature (unlike the Bose setup which makes you spend over $100 up front).Heck even just a corded dongle with AA's that can replace the AC adapter would be a hack I could live with in this price range.

5) Improve the contrast on the button labels on the remote.Use different shapes for different controls so you can feel them without having to memorize them.

6) Add a wireless (or wired, but wireless would be better) subwoofer accessory to this and charge $150 for it.This would add the thumping deep bass (under 120 Hz) that would make this unit compete with a real home stereo and/or a higher end computer speaker setup.This would give you a setup for $300 that would sweep the market segment for sound and expandability.

I bought this speaker for my mac and I've found that it performs very well for its size.It is as advertised - the bass sounds very good, not tinny at all.It is very compact and I like that it comes with its own carry bag.This will prevent it from getting scratched.The black color will go very well with the newer Apple computers.

The only drawback is that it does not have a volume control on the unit itself.However, I found that I can adjust the sound well using the volume controls on my mac, so this really wasn't such a problem.The computer did not recognize the speaker when I plugged it in, so I had to go to System Preferences, select Sound and then switch it from Built-in Speakers to USB Speaker.This is relatively quick and easy.Don't forget to switch back to Built-in Speakers when you unplug the unit.

Let's face it, laptop speakers are terrible. We can all agree on that! But is this small USB laptop speaker system really the solution? Yes and no. On the plus side, the USB plug is easy to use - just plug and play! It works on both Mac and PCs. (I have a Mac.) The flexible gooseneck allows for quick directional adjustment and it's sturdy enough to easily support the speaker unit.

Also on the plus side, the speakers generate a hefty sound level. At the max volume setting on my computer, these little speakers were loud enough to be heard several feet away. If you want to use your laptop to play something for someone else, this is the way to go.

However, on the minus side... the sound quality is harsh and tinny, and there is very little bottom end. There are USB speakers available for the same price that have reasonably smooth high end and decent bottom end response (at least they give you an idea of what's happening in the bass), however they lack the convenience of this product. My overall assesment: this product is a good idea that hasn't been realized well. The gooseneck is sturdy enough to support a larger speaker unit that would allow for reasonable sound reproduction. The product feels and sounds more like a toy than an actual speaker. I doubt that I'll be using it for much.

I've read a lot of reviews online for this product, and the biggest hangup seems to be with the ipod related features, overall looks, button sensitivity and so on.Very few actually focus on the sound quality, which for me is by far the most important factor in choosing a sound system.I've owned the IM600 and Logitec Pure-fi Anywhere speakers, and this system is light years ahead of those, and any other similiarly priced portable ipod speakers in overall sound quality.This system in on par with the Bose SoundDock II portable system and is quite a bit cheaper.The only drawback to the sound is that it isn't going to blow you out of the water with incredibly deep bass.That being said, I don't think there is a portable system out there yet capable of producing significant bass due to their smaller size.Bottomline, if sound is your driving factor in choosing a rechargeable ipod speaker system and you don't want to pay $350 for the Bose SoundDock portable, the InMotion Max should be your #1 choice.

I've had previous versions of this product and find this one much improved.
- It does work with my iPhone 3G, including the charging.
- Improved sound quality.
- Battery powered (optional)

The only downgrade with respect to past versions is the remote control:
- Less intuitive buttons. Difficult to operate in the dark
- Dependent on Infrared, instead of the old RF. This means you need direct line of sight to the unit for it to work.

Altec Lansing inMotion Speaker Dock with FM Radio for Zune (Black) Review

The Altec Lansing inMotion iM414v2 is an updated version of the iM414, which had a some fans and nearly as many detractors.Did Altec Lansing, a Plantronics company, get it right this time?

PROS:
- Good sound
- Easy to read LCD display
- FM tuner w/3 presets
- Aux-in
- Remote included
- Bass boost option helps
- Nice build quality
- AC or battery-operated (3xAA)
- Supports HD radio from Zune HD
- Now includes 3 adapters for multiple Zune support

CONS:
- Sound quality not as good as others, including other Altec Lansings
- Wire FM antenna difficult to tune and messy
- No clock function
- Mediocre value

Altec Lansing markets this as being for the home and office.I would have no problem using the iM414v2 in either location.Is it small enough to share space on my desks and provides good enough sound to be a compliment to any desk or shelf space.It does not however, take the place of my desktop multimedia system, which is not what the iM414v2 is intended for anyways.

SOUND QUALITY
For the size of the unit, I was quite impressed with the sound quality.The bass boost really does add some thump to the music, though the surround effect had very little effect.The high's were reasonably good but I found the mids to be rather bland.Again, these are portable speakers, so overall, the sound quality is good.The volume setting only goes to 30, but if you turn up the volume to max on your player, the speakers will present major distortion at 30.

FM TUNER
I found the tuning capabilities of the iM414v2 to be somewhat poor.The wire antenna is extremely long and not very effective just dangling towards the ground.I had to tape the antenna to the wall in order to get the best reception.I would have preferred a telescoping antenna like the MIX iMT800.You get 3 FM presets as well.

MISC
The build quality on the all plastic unit feels solid.The auxiliary line-in is a nice to have.Altec Lansing has now also included 3 different dock adapters for those with the Zune HD and older Zune's.The Zune will charge if the iM414v2 is on AC power but not on battery power, which is rated at 24 hour run-time.The LCD display is nice and clean but why not include a clock?Also, the warranty is just 1 year but if you register the speakers at Altec Lansing's website, they will extend your warranty to 2 years.Given some of the build issues from the original iM414, I would highly recommend everyone to register to get their free extended warranty.

SUMMARY
Overall, the Altec Lansing inMotion iM414v2 is a good speaker dock for the Zune.Time will tell if firmware changes improved on the older iM414.MSRP is rather high for such a basic speaker dock, but Zune users do not have many options other than using pre-existing AV equipment.If you've been getting by on your current configuration, I'd probably stick to that.If however, you didn't have your Zune connected to anything or would like something for the office, the iM414v2 is a decent option.

I travel a lot and love to be able to listen to music once I'm back in the hotel room.Before finding these speakers, the only options I had was to either lug my heavy & bulky iHome with me (which took up precious space in my bag) or listen to music via my headphones, which feels really weird when you're alone in a hotel room.So needless to say, these speakers were both a great find & purchase.You don't need a docking station in order to listen to your iPod. Once I opened the box, I was listening to my iPod within seconds.Great volume, great price, very compact, weighs less than a pound and can run off of three AAA batteries.If you're looking for a rich wall of sound, then this is not the item for you.The sound is on the tinny side and it also doesn't charge your mp3 player, so you will need a separate charger.

I needed to wake up to music and had specific criteria:

1.Alarm clock must work with iPod so I could set what song I woke up to

2.Clock must have bearable alarm sound just in case iPod is not available.

3.Clock must increase sound from silence incrementally so I'm not jarred out of sleep.

4.Clock must be small and portable so I can pick it up and walk with it while I get ready in the AM w/o waking hubby

5.Clock must work on batteries and wall plug that detaches

6.Clock must be white or silver

And with that said, this clock was so perfect it's like I imagined it!Not only that it's an travel clock so it's portable enough for trips.It does not have all the wiz bang of some of the other clocks but I really didn't need all of that.The unit is much smaller than it looks on the site and the speakers pack a serious punch (they are on the sides).I would buy this again and I've been recommending it to all my friends.Perfect!

When I got this piece, there were no reviews at all, but still I wanted to buy it for its stylish looks. Frankly speaking, I didn't have much expectations on this prodcut interms of the sound quality, since its just 5W, but I was really surprised to see the sound it generates! Awesome sound quality - Too good for your bedroom. Obviously, you cannot compare it with a hometheatre system but for a iPod/iPhone dock, its way at the top. The FM radio, CD, AUX and USB ports are a big advantage and I was very pleased that it supports iPhone 3G and 3GS as well. I totally liked it and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

iHome iP1 Studio Series Speaker System for iPhone/iPod Review

I think this system is one of the best, if not the best, sound systems available for iPhone/iPod considering its cost and sound quality. A similar Bose system cost about $400. Yet, IP1 fails in few areas, mainly some basic design areas and secondly sound fine tuning. Good:
-Cost is lesser than similar Bose
-Good sized remote easily controls iPhones or iPod.
-Sound quality is not bad, actually very clean.
-iPhone or iTouch, once docked, lays its back to the device, getting a good support from IP1s plexi-glass surface, preventing accidental breaking of the connection. Bose does not have this advantage.
-Design is appealing to some as it is a bit different (based on personal preference), some likes boxy, minimalist design, like my self.

Bad:
-Yes it sounds nice, but no matter how much you lower the treble, it still sounds high on treble, even with the extra bass.
-No, it does not sound high enough to tremble the room, the volume is in lower end, may be this is good to prevent over load on the speakers.
-The infamous "power brick", which is separate piece than the system is almost three time bigger than an average laptop power brick. It requires extra attention to place into a proper location so it won't be visible. iHome should have designed better brick, AppleTV has some lessons on this area.
-Design is a bit un-minimalistic for my taste. System's design makes it difficult to safely place it or carry it around. You may need to place this in place and leave it there. To much curves/corners. iHome would better box this into a nice quality plastic container for practical purposes.

Conclusion:
- Yes, I would recommend this system to anyone who is looking for a moderately quality sound system with good price. It is well worth to pay around $230 for this system. However, do not expect miracles, and forget about being mobile with this, even in the house.
-I congratulate iHome folks to initiate this type of system, I am hoping they will improve on this in design and sound area. They are almost there. With an inclusion wi-fi radio system, iHome may come up a better product that may crush all the other new music systems out there.

TIPS:

1- You can install the "Shoutcast" app to your iPhone and stream thousands internet radios just like a wi-fi radio, now, you have a wi-fi radio as well.

2- Or, better, you can buy an Airport Express for $99.
Connect it to music system with its 3.5mm connection,
Configure it to connect to your Mac or PC's iTunes application
Play the music you like on your Mac or PC with iTunes application to have the music streamed into the Air port Express which puts it to any sound system.

3- Even, better, (yes it gets better ) you can also install "Remote" application from app store into your iPhone or Touch which controls your iTunes player on your Mac or PC.
In turn, wherever you are in your house, you control your music with iPhone via Remote app (like a remote control, but seeing entire iTunes library on your iPhone/Touch) through wi-fi network, streaming the music into the any stereo via AirPort Express.

I did quite a bit of research before getting the Bose SoundDock II.I wanted a dock that would work with my iPod touch 2G, have superb sound quality, and preferably charge my iPod while docked.Well I have to say that I got all i wanted and then some with this unit.

I read some reviews online written by "audiophiles" and supposed "sound experts" bashing Bose for selling overpriced and underpowered equipment.These people just don't get it.I won't go on to bore you in detail about the ridiculous things that were said but I will mention that these people are comparing the SoundDock to a home stereo setup that entails having a receiver with two separate wired speakers.Is this a fair comparison?I beg to differ.

To summarize this product it's a compact unit you can have in virtually any room in the house minus a bathroom (for safety purposes) and its sound can be described as warm and beautiful with deep enough bass to make your sound come alive but not wake the neighbors.Clear, never distorted at any volume.You get what you pay for.

I ordered the EGO iceBar2 direct from Atlantic as soon as it was offered for sale.Their website said "backordered," so I expected a wait.I was pleasantly surprised when I got it a few days later.

Backtracking a bit, I am a kayaker who sometimes likes tunes while paddling.I was using a Sonic Impact system with my iPod Shuffle on the deck of my kayak.All was fine until a day of rough water.One splash too many fried everything.

So...I bought a 3rd gen Nano and looked for a way to waterproof it.Some googling turned up several mentions of the as yet unreleased iceBar2.The specs looked good, so I ordered as soon as I could.

The iceBar2 is elegantly engineered.It is only for Nanos (all gens).Of course, I immediately tested its waterproofness by dunking it, and it passed the test.

The speakers are tiny and very close together, so don't expect stereo separation or good bass.You'll get AM radio fidelity, but what else can you expect in such a small package?And, you can use your earbuds instead of the speakers through a waterproof plug-in.

The Nano click wheel is very easy to operate through a membrane on the iceBar2.

So far, I am very pleased with it.Battery life seems excellent.The waterproofing works.I didn't give it 5 stars for one reason only.The plastic case came pre-scuffed in the window over the Nano LCD.Not a big deal for me...I don't need to watch video while kayaking...but a sign of a quality control issue.My serial number is 00002229, so many the scuffing is an early production/packaging issue.

All in all, if you want a waterproof speaker system for your Nano, the iceBar2 is the way to go.I don't think it has any real competition yet.And, at $80, the price is reasonable.At first I thought it was a bit expensive, but when I saw the quality I felt like I got good value.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus Omnidirectional Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone Review

Unfortunately this product, while being another example of Logitech's great quality, finds itself in the awkward position of being a less enticing version of other Logitech Products that better specialize in aspects of the Pure-Fi Express Plus' feature set. The product is a good, not great performer, it's portable, and it features an alarm clock, but since Logitech has other iPod docking products that either perform better, are more portable, or are better alarm clocks, I'd recommend the alternatives first.

As far as performance goes, the Pure-Fi Express Plus didn't provide the same quality output as my set of standalone speakers with subwoofer, but it holds its weight. Logitech's Pure-Fi Dream Speaker might be a better alternative if you're looking for higher quality output (and AM/FM radio).

For portability, the Pure-Fi Express Plus is certainly nice, compact, and simple. In fact, it's a little smaller than expected (Logitech uses a 2nd generation Nano in many of the product photos which makes the Pure-Fi Express look bigger than it is). If you're primarily interested in portability, however, the even more portable, rechargeable Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i might be a better choice.

For the alarm clock functionality, the Pure-Fi Express Plus gets the job done, but it just has a buzzer (it won't let you wake up to your iPod), it doesn't feature dual alarms, and the snooze button doubles as the volume dial which doubles as the power button. Fortunately, another Logitech product, the similarly priced Pure-Fi Anytime Premium Alarm Clock, has all the features you'd expect of a full-featured alarm clock, if that's what you're after.

The only compelling advantage the Pure-Fi Express Plus has over its alternatives is the omnidirectional speaker which broadcasts in 360°. That makes it worth considering if you really need an iPod dock for a coffee table in the middle of a room, but otherwise I'd buy the other Logitech alternatives before this unit.

Overall, I wouldn't say the Pure-Fi Express Plus is a bad choice, necessarily. I just wouldn't call it as good of a choice as the other products mentioned. I'd give the Pure-Fi Express Plus an unenthusiastic recommendation, but only three stars because of its more specialized, and arguably more appealing, sister products.

iLive iS809B Wireless Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black) Review

The speaker set as a whole works very well once you get it up and running. The set I purchased comes with 4 speakers and one dock. I found that 2 of my speakers have white LED indicator lights while the other 2 speakers have blue LED indicator lights, which is a bit odd. In any case, I found the speakers difficult to pair, for those with trouble try these steps:

1. Have all speakers and dock near each other within arms reach.
2. Plug all speakers and dock into an outlet and turn them on, dock and speakers will blink slowly.
3. Turn the speaker volumes to medium-low, when they come out of the box they are at max volume and will make a very loud beep when it tries pairing.

Alright, this is when coordination is key:
Each speaker has a pairing button, when you hold the pairing button down for 3 seconds, the speaker will make a beeping tone once every half-second while it searches for the dock, it will attempt to pair for about 10 seconds. The dock has a pairing button on it's left side. When you hold the pairing button down for 3 seconds, the status light will blink rapidly as it searches for the speakers for 10 seconds. You can see how this requires some coordination...

4. Using one hand on a pair of speakers, press and hold the pairing button on the speakers to initiate pairing (beeping sounds start).
5. Repeat step 4 on another pair of speakers.
6. Quickly press and hold the pairing button on the dock.
7. If you are able to do this fast enough, all 4 speakers will make a long sustained tone indicating that they have been paired.
8. Dock your ipod and give it a whirl, if you find that one or more speaker(s) is not outputting sound, you did not go through the steps fast enough... Repeat steps 4-7 again but FASTER!

I found that the speakers and docks, once paired, will not lose pairing (THANK GOODNESS!) even if you unplug them for an extended period of time, although the clock on the dock will reset unless you install 2 AAA's in the dock (not included).

Sound quality wise, I tried moving the speakers around my 1 story house and found that I got clear reception everywhere I went. The speakers do not produce the best sound in the world, they definitely do not measure up to my Klipsch speakers, but they sound decent once I up the treble to 5 and the bass to 3. Also, you can leave the speakers on and turn off the dock, they will not make any static sounds like many 900Hz wireless speakers do, they go into standby instead. Turning on the dock causes the speakers to spring into action.

The remote also appears to not use IR but will work wirelessly. You do not need to point the remote at the dock for it to work. In fact, I found that I could walk clear to the other side of my house and still be able to control the dock.

I'm overall very happy with this set of speakers. Pairing was a pain, but once I got it up and running they work decently, the range and ability for the remote to work anywhere was a definite plus.

Update: Discovered that when you play soft sounding music, the speakers will go into standby within 10 seconds. When the music gets louder, the speakers re-engage. This behavior is rather annoying, I wished that they would stay engaged while the base station is on.

Presently this JBL On Stage Micro is going for 60% below the price of any other color, making it a no-brainer pick-up among docking speakers normally selling on Amazon for $100 or slightly more.JBL is a stylish, quality brand manufactured by Harmon International--durable, dependable, crisp-sounding.Despite the sharply divided reviews, the sound quality of virtually all speakers in the $80-$150 range is the same, with minor variations subject to differences in taste.I've found popular rechargeable units such as those made by Altec and Logitech to be unstable--sometimes changing iPod models will throw them off completely, requiring a reset with no guarantee of a fix.The JBL Micro, on the other hand, can be depended upon to deliver with either its AC connection or AA non-recharging alkalines.

Best disregard low-end merchandise--iLuv, GPX, Colby, J-Win and, unless you're looking for a clock radio, iHome. The sound is best described as "plastic-like," clearly inferior to a monaural speaker such as that of a Tivoli, Sangean, or Boston Acoustics radio. Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System (Black) Review

Sorry to be so Gushy...but I really LOVE these speakers. Having owned high-end speaker systems from Logitech, Labtech & Creative, I have always enjoyed good sound for games and music. As time has worn on, I began to play more music and fewer games on my PC. As a result I began looking for a quality 3-piece system to replace my 5-piece surround system.
I searched through all the companies I had purchased from before, when I stumbled across the Promedia 2.1's... and let me just say....
WOW!
... These speakers areCLEARLY head and shoulders above all other 3-piece systems - in both power and sound quality.
You MUST hear them to appreciate the difference.
PROS:
- Amazing sound: clear highs, full mid-range and rich tight bass.
- Power that rivals many home systems (200w-total)- Satellites (35w ea) - Subwoofer (130W)
- Convenient headphone and auxiliary input jacks.
- Convenient and separate controls for volume and bass.
- Very attractive casing.
- Very easy setup
- THX certified (which means you will hear things you won't hear on other speakers).
CONS:
* I cannot think of anything major, but a few drawbacks might be...
- Speaker system does not have a power switch on the satellite, it is located on the sub-woofer, which is not easy to get to (as it is typically tucked out of sight). However, the problem of shutdown is easily addressed with a power strip.
- [Costly,] compared to other systems (...though they are WELL worth the difference).
- Has horn tweeters, which are too "bright" for some folks... though I LOVE them.
Everything I play through these speakers sound great (DVD's, MP3's, Digital Camcorder movies, tape player etc.)I do not believe a better 3-piece system exists on the planet.
If you are a gamer or home theater enthusiast, I would encourage you to look at this systems "big brothers" (the 4.1 & 5.1 Promedia systems) as they are even more amazing (and pricier) for games and movies.
If you are in the market for a great speaker system I HIGHLY recommend Klipsch to you.

The person who wrote about having to sync the speaker to the USB wasn't reading the instructions.You totally don't even have to do that.I just plugged it all in, changed the setting on my computer and voila - wireless sound.I would recommend this to anyone looking to rid themselves of wires attached to their computer.The only bad thing that I can come up with was that the instructions were a little confusing which may be why that one guy kept trying to sync his up by pressing the buttons on each device.I never did that; it was plug and play almost instantly.Works great!Great price.

iHome iHM77 Rechargeable Mini Speakers for iPod (Red) Review

The product works great...The speakers are very small but they have plenty of volume and also have a good battery life.I use it with the iPod shuffle around the house and outside.It would be good to be able to plug it into the wall instead of computer USB only...I have a USB to wall converter that I use though. I just received these speakers today. They are very easy to set up, (takes no time to figure out at all). I was slightly disappointed with their construction, for paying 40 dollars I would think that they would feel more substantial. Also the subwoofer is pretty useless at the high output range, and pretty pitiful overall, but what can you expect for the price. These are very sharp looking speakers and I will display them proudly. If you are looking for a good subwoofer, spend some more money, but for dedicated laptop speakers they work fine.
